Deepak Sah, a renowned Nepali rider, who recently claimed victory in Group D, the Royal Enfield class, at the fourth edition of the "Rally of the Himalayas" in India, was felicitated in the capital today.
Hosted by Alpha Automotive, the exclusive authorized distributor for Royal Enfield in Nepal, Deepak was celebrated today at a ceremony in Kathmandu. The event brought together approximately 70 riders and media representatives, where Deepak was awarded a certificate of recognition along with a cash prize of Rs 95,000.
Competing from October 2 to October 6, Deepak showcased his talents on a Royal Enfield Himalayan 411, in this exhilarating off-road motorsport event known for its challenging terrain, unpredictable weather, and Himalayan routes.
The competition covered around 600 kilometers, starting from Manali in Himachal Pradesh and passing through Rohtang Pass, Kaza, and Spiti Valley. Riders encountered tough geographical challenges, including the Kunjum Pass, which reaches an altitude of approximately 4,551 meters.
As a registered event with the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) and affiliated with the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), participants had to follow specific regulations. Winners were determined based on time, speed, and distance (TSD) criteria.
Deepak has been riding Royal Enfield motorcycles since he was a child, inspired by his father's ownership of one since 1980, which ignited his passion for the brand. He also took part in the Raid De Himalayan in 2017 and 2018, as well as the Rally of Chamba in 2022, achieving victories in the Royal Enfield category at both the 2018 Raid De Himalayan and the Rally of Chamba.
